Effective June 26th, 2020

May 26th we reopend and after a solid month we have learned quite a bit. We set out a very strict plan for operating that has taught us a lot and I am very confident in the safety of our plans moving forward. We will continue to monitor our progress in the gym and the state of health or our community. If we determine the need to add in new policies or procedures to maintain an safe, fun and productive training environment we will do so.

It is important to note that maintaining daily habits with regard to positive physical and mental health are of teh highest priority right now. This isnt over and as testing, traffic and activitie increase so will some undesirable outcomes. Do you part take care of yourself and think and act in the interest of others. We will get through this.

Facility

Fit Club is a 10,000 square foot facility with 20’ ceilings and three 10’ x 15’ garage doors that open up and provide a lot of fresh air and light.  Handwashing stations are  located inside the front door, walking paths and exits will be clearly marked. A full class of 15 and two staff will allow over 600 square feet of open space per person. This is far more open space than is provided in most gyms and other establishments open. There are 13 -10’x12’ stations  and 5 10x 24'  stations fully outfitted with all equipment needed for the day. The entire facility is being disinfected and cleaned each day. Additionally each station, bathroom and changing room will be disinfected after each use by Fit Club staff. Deep cleaning and disinfection of all areas will be performed once a week.

Prospective Members

Prospective members should email info@fitclubcolumbus.com. We will put you in contact with a coach to answer all your questions and get you started on teh best path to accomplish your goals.

Scheduling, Checking in and Working Out

  1. Members will schedule a class time up to 7 days in advance. All member scheduling is done on out Fit Club Web App, directions for using the app have been sent seperatly. Prospective members will simply email info@fitclubcolumbus.com to schedule a time with a coach to come in and learn how to get started. Please no drop ins!
  2. Once members are registered for class it is time to show up and check in or cancel so someone else can use the spot. DO NOT JUST SHOW UP FOR CLASS WITH OUT BEING SCHEDULED! EVEN IF THERE LOOKS TO BE AN OPEN SPOT DO NOT JUST DROP IN!
  3. Upon entering the building wash or sanitize our hands, get your temp checked then proceed to your station
  4. The coach will lead the class in the FC WOD and provide any instructions for extra credit.
  5. As you finish using your equipment please use either gym wipes of spray disinfectant to clean your equipment. Coaches will perform additional cleaning each day
  6. Once the training session is over please leave the gym out of the exit door.
  7. Fit Club Beach and the Park are open you are welcome to socialize outside but lets keep the gym as clear as possible

Class Schedule

Members will reserve class times on the Fit Club web app. Classes may be scheduled from 30 minutes to 7 days in advance. If YOU ARE NOT SCHEDULED FOR CLASS DO NOT COME. Athletes will be able to arrive 10 minute before class time. Classes will be for 60 minutes with 30 minutes between each class for disinfection and set up time. All athletes will pre register for class with a 15 person limit. The Team WOD will have 20 spots We will reassess the class schedule after two weeks and make any adjustments needed. Right now 30 minutes between class is working pretty good. We could probably cut it to 15 minutes and maybe go back to back but it is hard to take full advantage of the hour and keep people distanced and stations disinfected with out some time in between.

This is the class schedule until further notice

Gym Guidelines

  1. Be Cool! leave the gym better than you found it. If you make a mess, clean it up. If you have a bad attitude ( even if it’s temporary, leave it at the door). If someone needs help, lend it. If you make a mistake, take responsibility. DON’T gossip. Solve your problems or get over them. Have fun!
  2. Be Awesome! That means finding the limits of your potential. You’re not here to be good. You’re not here for shortcuts. You are here to get better and be great. That means taking some chances, going all out, and helping others to do the same. Do the work! Have fun!

Things we have learned. What do members need to bring?

  • A gym towel- This helps with sweat and to keep hands dry during hotter training sessions.
  • Clean/Gym only shoes- Members will be asked to use seperate shoes in the gym from regular daily use. They can change in and out of them in their car. Bring something to disinfect them down before they put them back in their gym bag.
  • Hand sanitizer- I am going to set up hand washing and sanitizing stations up outside for use when entering and leaving the gym.
  • Chalk- Members were issued personal chalk bags upon return to the gym. Fit Club will no longer have communal chalk buckets. Athletes may use their own powder or liquid chalk.

Programming

As we enter month two of training all things are going well. We are still having several all time PR lifts for people, not post COVID PRs but all time PRs in strength and met cons. We will open July up with a little taper and then Murph on the 4th and then get back to strength work and progressively hard met cons.

Conclusion

Thank you. This is still very difficult for everyone. A lot is going on in the world inside and outside of the gym. I appreciate your patience and support. We aren't done with this yet but everyday training becomes easier.
