Unless you are. Don't get carried away, I'm not going all emo millennial hipster squishy bitch. In general I still think most people need to shut up, put their head down and do some work. Everyone needs a plan they just don't always need a special one tailored to all the things that make them special. Generally speaking (in fitness) a good plan followed consistently and with intensity is going to get you farther than anything else someone can concoct on the internet. Specializing is for specialist and insects. Most people are generalist, they want to generally be stronger, leaner, healthier and more able to take advantage of all the fun stuff life offers. Specialist would be people with fine tuned goals ( competition or recovery) and in their case adjustments to the norm are critical to their success. But they still benefit highly from the intensity and consistency heightened by a larger group. As coaches we work hard to understand your goals and make sure WODs are scaled for you so that you get the spirit of the wod not necessarily the letter of it. Most days of the week I get to coach about 40 people. Only a few of them do the work out exactly as written and none of them do it the same and that is just fine. Jokingly, tongue in cheek the phrase scaling is failing gets thrown out and in the right environment with all like minded/goaled athletes that is necessary but nine times out of ten if you are not scaling (up or down) you are failing. Today the first section will take no longer than ten minutes, it's not a hero, it's a test so get your brain around what it is going to take to pass this mofo. The second part will start 15 minutes after the first but shouldn't take much longer. If you have to back off on some weight, reps or movement let us know we help you finish the WOD and feel special, we're all about the feels.
