Run 800m - Forward

Run 800m - Forward

Run 400m - Backward

No you probably won't run a 5k in reverse but that's not the point. While technically a sprint 800 meter runs are very effective at building capacity for longer events. Run the first one all out then turn around and run backwards for 400 meter. Now do it again. running backward will accomplish a few things:

1) A little variety never hurt anyone and specifically it will work your legs a little different than you are used to. It is also a new challenge for your eyes and brain.

2) You will move slower , this will give you a chance to get your heart rate down after a hard 800 and give you a chance to get ready for the next 800.

3) It's fun to do new stuff, just take your time and be safe. We will have a fun course mapped out in the park so lace up your magic backwards running shoes and come ready to try something new.
